John Goodenough’s funeral
The funeral of our long-serving former Shop Manager, John Goodenough, is on Wednesday 25th November at 12 noon at Holy Trinity Church, Headington, Oxford (Trinity Road, Oxford OX3 8LQ). The church is a particularly special place for John and his wife Julie, as it is where they were married.
Following the service at the church, all are welcome to move on to the Oxford Crematorium (Bayswater Road, Headington, Oxford OX3 9RZ) for a shorter service where John will be at cremated.
The funeral wake will be at the Headington Conservative Club (60 Windmill Rd, Headington, Oxford OX3 7BZ). It will be open from 1 pm for anyone not wanting to go to the Crematorium.
John didn’t like wearing a suit or tie and so has asked for people to not wear suits or ties to his funeral. John also asked people to not wear all black and to wear red or white instead (those who knew John will know why he has chosen these two colours).

The counter top collection in memory of John started immediately after the news of his death has now been closed and the money collected will be transferred to Julie’s chosen charity, Bowel Cancer UK.
The Shop Management Committee is working with Radley News to raise money for a permanent memorial to John in Radley. Donations to John G’s memorial fund can be made online via this link, by cash at Radley Village Shop, or by bank transfer (contact Radley News for details of its bank account).
